ROTARY VACUUM PUMP
BVT make direct drive Rotary vacuum pump model BVT 350 having a displacement capacity of 350 lit/min (21 m3/hr) giving an ultimate vacuum of 1 x 10-3 m.bar under no load condition on Mcleod gauge with gas ballast in fully closed condition.
DIFFSTACK OIL DIFFUSION PUMP
BVT make Oil Diffusion pump Model DP 150D having 150 mm nominal dia with an effective pumping speed of 750 lit/sec.
HIGH VACUUM VALVE
A high vacuum valve of 6" butterfly valve type model QSV-6 to provide maximum pumping capacity is provided above the diffusion pump. This facilitates isolation of the diffusion pump, even when the chamber/load is exposed to atmosphere.
CRYO TRAP
Liquid nitrogen cryo cooled trap is provided in the system which is attached to the side port of the diffusion pump. This reduces the backstreaming of diffusion pump oil vapours, thus producing clean and high vacuum in the chamber.
VACUUM COLLAR
A vacuum collar is mounted above the high vacuum valve and is versatile for multiple needs of the user. The top port is blanked off and can be connected after removing the top plate when maximum pumping speed is required. In case of a connection to a smaller opening a KF-25 side port is provided.
PLUMBING LINES & VALVES
Plumbing lines made of stainless steel incorporate 2 nos. of 1” quarter swing butterfly valves for backing and roughing operations.
An air admittance valve to release vacuum into the collar and a fine control needle valve for controlled admittance of inert gas are provided.
VACUUM MEASURING GAUGES:
PIRANI GAUGE
The unit is provided with an analog pirani gauge, two pirani gauge heads are provided to independently monitor the roughing and backing pressure in the range of 0.5 to 0.001 mbar through a selector switch.
PENNING GAUGE
An analog penning gauge, with 1 no. metal gauge head is provided to monitor high vacuum in two ranges. First range is 1 x 10-3 to 1 x 10-5 m.bar and second range is 2 x 10-5 to 1 x 10-6 m.bar.
SAFETY DEVICES:
A water flow switch in the water circulation line of the unit protects the diffusion pump in case of water supply failure/low pressure by switching off the diffusion pump heater.
A Thermostat switch fitted to the water cooling coils of the diffusion pump protects from excessive heating by switching off the heater.
Over Load protection devices for the vacuum pump motor and diffusion pump are provided.
ELECTRICAL CONTROLS :
Unit operates on 220V A.C 50 Hz Single phase power supply.
MOUNTING FRAME :
All the above components are housed in an aesthetic MS frame with a front panel for mounting gauges and controls. The valve control knobs are designed for convenient operation. The unit is mounted on 4 castor wheels for mobility and easy maneuverability.
ULTIMATE VACUUM:
The unit is specified to achieve an ultimate vacuum of 5 x 10-6 m.bar in clean, cool, empty degassed condition with dry nitrogen back filling. With the incorporation of the Liquid Nitrogen Trap the system is specified to achieve an ultimate vacuum in the order of 1 x 10-6 m.bar with liquid nitrogen filled in the Liquid Nitrogen trap.
